Areas of Concentration

Carla A. Kerr has been a litigation partner in the New York office of Hughes Hubbard for more than 12 years and a litigator with Hughes Hubbard for more than 20 years. Her primary practice is the defense of commercial and discrimination disputes.

Ms. Kerr's litigation practice focuses on the negotiation and settlement of complex and media-sensitive matters. She brings to bear litigation experience which is extensive and national in scope. She has successfully tried eight cases and succeeded in motion practice in federal district courts in New York, Florida, and Chicago, as well as state courts and commissions in New York, Southern California, Pennsylvania, and numerous other jurisdictions. She also has extensive appellate experience in the Second, Seventh and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeals, and has represented both parties and amici before the United States Supreme Court.

Her Spanish-language skills have led her to assist clients in litigations and arbitrations in Latin America and Europe, including the supervision of investigations and briefing to local courts, as well as the acquisition of documentary evidence in the United States for use abroad.

Ms. Kerr's pro bono work led to a front page profile in the New York Law Journal, and numerous appearances on Court TV and law-related cable shows.
