New York and Paris, May 7, 2021 – Hughes Hubbard is pleased to announce the firm has expanded its Labor and Employment practice with the addition of Monique Figueiredo as partner in Paris, effective May 3rd. She will join the team composed of senior counsel Nadine Voisin and associates Isabelle Benisty and Diana Tiron.

Figueiredo is a widely respected employment law partner with considerable experience advising international corporate clients on the full range of both contentious and non-contentious employment matters. She has French-Portuguese nationality and she is fluent in French, English, Portuguese and Spanish.

She specializes in representing companies before civil and administrative jurisdictions in individual and collective disputes in France, while also advising on complex restructuring projects arising out of site closures, the implementation of redundancy plans, and the negotiation of collective bargaining agreements. Her client base is extremely varied and draws from the IT, packaging, chemical, pharmaceutical, luxury, cosmetics, entertainment, metallurgy and finance sectors.

“Monique is a fantastic addition to our Paris employment practice and to our firm as a whole,” said Ted Mayer. “She has built a strong reputation through her successful litigation of numerous individual and collective employment cases for international and French employers. We are looking forward to working with her.”

“In addition to being a well-respected litigator and attorney, Monique’s ability to assist our international clients in four languages with their labor and employment needs is a unique strength and incredibly helpful in understanding the many cultural dynamics of the vast array of the clients we serve,” said Bryan Sillaman, managing partner of the firm’s Paris office. “We are excited to welcome her.”

“Hughes Hubbard feels like a family within an international firm. They have the benefits of a global footprint with a culture that is very welcoming and ‘come as you are.’ I am looking forward to working with my new colleagues,” said Figueiredo.

Figueiredo holds a Master’s (DEA) in International Economic Law from the Université Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne; a Master’s (DESS) in Corporate Law from the Université Paris IX Dauphine; and a Master’s in Management Sciences, International Corporate Law Specialisation, also from the Université Paris IX Dauphine.
