Hughes Hubbard & Reed expands its Economic Sanctions, Export Controls & Anti‑Money Laundering practice in Paris by welcoming Edouard Gergondet as Counsel

July 13, 2022 – Hughes Hubbard & Reed is pleased to announce that Edouard Gergondet has joined the firm's Economic Sanctions, Export Controls and Anti-Money Laundering practice in Paris as Counsel. Gergondet is a valuable addition to a market leading US and EU team, composed in Paris of Jan Dunin-Wasowicz, Counsel, and several experienced associates in this field, and led by Ryan Fayhee, based in Washington, D.C.

Joining from Brussels, Gergondet has strengthened the firm's growing Sanctions, Export Controls & Anti‑Money Laundering practice, with the ability and scale to deploy specialized and cross-border teams globally. 

Gergondet’s experience transcends transactional, compliance counseling, and enforcement matters before national, European and international authorities. His clients are primarily from the financial, insurance, industrial and new technology sectors.

In addition, Gergondet supports his clients in trade defense proceedings including anti-dumping, anti-subsidy and safeguard investigations, on the interpretation and implementation of international and bilateral trade agreements and on the application of customs rules. He also represents governments in disputes at the World Trade Organization (WTO).

Gergondet holds a Master's degree in International and European Business Law from the University of Nancy, has completed an LLM at the University of Cambridge, and is a member of the Brussels Bar and registered with the Paris Bar pursuant to Directive 98/5/CE.
