New York and Washington D.C., April 23, 2018 – Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP announced today that Joanne Osendarp has been named chair of the firm’s International Trade practice. Comprised of internationally recognized lawyers with decades of senior government service and private practice experience, the Hughes Hubbard team advises clients on the full spectrum of trade regulation, compliance and related policy issues.

Osendarp has long distinguished herself in international legal circles as the Government of Canada’s principal U.S. based lawyer in Canada’s high-profile, ongoing softwood lumber dispute with the United States (frequently referred to as “the biggest trade battle on the planet”). She also advises and represents governments, industry associations, export credit agencies and companies in international trade and investment matters, including in countervailing duty, antidumping and other trade remedy proceedings, dispute resolution proceedings under the World Trade Organization and the North American Free Trade Agreement, investment and state-to-state arbitrations and international trade negotiations.

Ted Mayer, Chair of Hughes Hubbard, said, “We believe Joanne will be a strong leader of our Trade group. Our clients have described her as incredibly talented, strategic, and able to bring people together.”
