Kevin Abikoff Quoted by The Wall Street Journal Regarding Mark Mendelsohn

Kevin Abikoff was quoted in the April 14, 2010 issue of The Wall Street Journal in a story about Mark Mendelsohn, the Justice Department’s deputy chief in the criminal fraud section, who is expected to join the firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison LLP. 

“‘Mark roughed up a lot of people in the private world, and you have to wonder whether clients will react well to working with him,’ said Kevin Abikoff, a Washington attorney who specializes in Foreign Corrupt Practices Act FCPA cases. But, he added, ‘Mark is a very good hire for Paul Weiss. It gives them a greater profile in this field.’ Many multinational corporations now routinely employ teams of defense lawyers to try to fend off bribery prosecutions. New York-based Hughes Hubbard & Reed has roughly doubled the number of attorneys devoted to such matters in the past two years, said Mr. Abikoff, a partner at the firm. ‘A lot of that growth is attributable to Mark Mendelsohn,’ Mr. Abikoff said.”
