April 2023- Kevin Carroll spoke with Politico about his representation of a female CIA employee who spoke to the House intelligence committee in January regarding the mishandling of the agency’s response to sexual assault and harassment in its workforce.

The investigation began when the employee approached the committee in January and alleged that the CIA had not punished a male colleague who she claims sexually assaulted her, according to Carroll and a copy of the complaint.

Carroll told Politico that the CIA is making it difficult for alleged victims to speak to law enforcement, calling it the agency’s “Me Too moment.”

While local county law enforcement is pursuing the woman’s case as a misdemeanor, federal law enforcement has not been as helpful, Carroll said. “We greatly appreciate the assistance of local law enforcement,” he said. “If federal law enforcement had taken a similar interest, the charge would be felony sex assault.”
