April 2023 - Christine Kang recently spoke to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) for its article “WIPO ADR Stories: How Women are Making a Difference in IP Dispute Resolution.”

As part of WIPO’s celebration of World Intellectual Property Day (April 26), the organization chose to spotlight the “women who continue to make significant contributions to [intellectual property (IP)].” The article specifically focused on alternative dispute resolution (ADR) mechanisms, such as mediation and arbitration.

“The popularity and success of using ADR for IP disputes,” explained Kang, “comes from several obvious advantages of ADR in comparison with court litigation. Including a mediator/arbitrator’s expertise in [special industries or areas]; party autonomy and ability in creating a dispute resolution procedure; and cost-effectiveness.”
