Overview

Since 1987, Hughes Hubbard’s Miami office has provided sophisticated counsel to clients with business interests across the southeastern region of the U.S. and throughout Central and South America, as well as the Caribbean. Our office focuses on two principal areas of practice – corporate and litigation – and works closely with the firm’s other offices to provide a full range of legal services. We offer an essential and unique combination of skills: New York and Florida law capability; fluency in foreign languages (the majority of our lawyers speak Spanish, Portuguese or other languages); and an understanding of the international business and legal arena.

Our Latin America practice represents many of the world’s leading financial institutions in cutting-edge, cross-border syndicated and bilateral loan facilities, with emphasis on acquisition financings, trade finance transactions, project financings, aircraft lease financings and financial restructurings. We also advise multinational corporations in structuring, negotiating and implementing cross-border mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, private equity investments and capital markets transactions. Our practice has received numerous honors over the years, including several “Deal of the Year” awards.

Our deep bench of litigators are experienced in protecting the interests of our clients in complex civil litigation in all federal and state courts in Florida (and elsewhere), as well as in arbitration proceedings under all major domestic and international rules and procedures, including those of the American Arbitration Association (AAA) and its International Centre for Dispute Resolution (ICDR), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA) and UNCITRAL. We represent international and national clients in the full range of matters, including antitrust, banking, employment, insolvency, intellectual property, professional liability, product liability, real property, RICO, and securities law proceedings. In addition, we represent our clients in connection with anti-corruption and other internal investigations.
