Hughes Hubbard & Reed represented United Airlines in connection with United's agreement to lease up to 25 used Airbus A319 aircraft from AerCap, one of the world's largest aircraft leasing companies. The transaction agreement was executed on May 8, 2015.

United expects to take delivery of 11 of the aircraft over the next two years. Fourteen additional aircraft will be delivered over the following three years. United plans to use the A319s principally to replace smaller 50-seat aircraft in its network. The aircraft are currently leased by AerCap to China Southern Airlines.

United serves major markets around the world either directly or through participation in Star Alliance, the world's largest airline alliance, and offers nearly 5,000 daily flights to more than 373 airports across six continents.
