Washington, D.C., October 11, 2016 – Hughes Hubbard & Reed LLP announced today that Ali Stoeppelwerth will join the firm as Special Counsel in the Washington, D.C., office. Stoeppelwerth is an antitrust and regulatory lawyer who focuses particularly on issues affecting clients in the media, telecommunications, e-commerce, aviation and financial services industries. She joins Hughes Hubbard after having practiced antitrust law at another Washington firm for more than two decades.

Stoeppelwerth has extensive experience successfully representing clients in Federal Trade Commission and U.S. Justice Department merger reviews. She advises companies on antitrust-related investigations, civil litigation (including class actions and multidistrict litigation) and related Federal Communications Commission, Securities and Exchange Commission and Department of Transportation regulatory inquiries. Stoeppelwerth also provides counseling and compliance training in connection with licensing, distribution, pricing, advertising and other strategic business issues.

Stoeppelwerth began her law career as a judicial law clerk to Chief Judge Alfred T. Goodwin of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit. She received a B.A. from Stanford University and a J.D. from Stanford Law School. In addition, she has a Master of Laws degree in European Community Law from the University of Amsterdam and a Master of Public Administration degree in International Relations from Princeton University.
