February 7, 2020 - The firm and four of its litigators received 2019 Pro Bono Publico Awards for providing outstanding services to the Legal Aid Society and its low-income clients.

On Oct. 28, 2019, Bill Beausoleil, Miles Orton, Sabrine Tribié and Marc Weinstein, along with the firm, were honored at the Legal Aid Society's annual awards ceremony for drafting a New York Court of Appeals amicus curiae brief on behalf of Legal Aid, challenging two discredited methods of DNA analysis formerly used in criminal prosecutions in New York.

The team began working with Legal Aid's DNA Unit on the brief in January 2019, and submitted it in December. Oral argument is scheduled for Feb. 12, 2020. The research involved gaining in-depth expertise in methods of DNA analysis, and the drafting focused on distilling and communicating the complex scientific issues in ways that will be persuasive to the appeals court, complemented by the firm’s deep strengths in both product liability and criminal defense.
