July 31, 2025 – New York Law Journal published the article “Hughes Hubbard Stocks Up on Finance Lawyers, Amid Strategy to Build ‘Premier’ Practice,” which describes the firm’s strategy to expand our financial services offerings through the addition of three key partners to our Banking & Financial Services practice.

The article focuses on Andrés Berry’s arrival as partner at Hughes Hubbard – the third addition to the firm’s Banking & Financial Services practice this year – and quotes managing partner Robb Patryk on the growth of the firm’s finance practice.

“You know, largely when the market looks at us, they look at us as one of the premier aircraft finance practices,” Patryk said. “We want the market to look at us as a premier finance practice, with a capital F. Whatever kind of financing you need.”

Building out the firm’s offerings to serve clients in any type of financing is key to the strategic plan Patryk and firm chair Neil Oxford implemented when they entered their respective roles at the firm in 2024, Patryk told the publication.

Clients have been telling firm lawyers that they would like to have them on more of their finance matters, Patryk said, adding that attorneys like Berry are coming in with a wealth of experience to make that happen.

Patryk described Berry as having a “wider area of practice” in the financial wheelhouse, from net asset value financing to sovereign debt to project finance. Patryk also said that part of what he enjoys about adding lawyers like Berry to the firm is the “energy and vibe” that they bring with them to help the firm develop into something more.

The article also highlights the firm’s increased profits in 2024, with profits per equity partner up by 24%, even with an increase in equity partners.
