June 15, 2021 - We are pleased to announce that the 2021 edition of Chambers USA recognizes Hughes Hubbard & Reed among the top 30 Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA) practices in the United States.

Clients commended our attorneys’ commitment to client service and depth of knowledge on anti-corruption matters. One client lauded our “unwavering focus on client needs and sober assessments of what the issues are.”

Another remarked “one of the differentiating factors I’ve experienced with [Hughes Hubbard] is the high level of availability of its attorneys and its ability to generate high-quality work product on short notice.”

Practice co-chairs Kevin Abikoff and Laura Perkins are ranked individually in the FCPA category, with a client calling Abikoff “a masterful strategic thinker, able to look over the horizon to understand what issues are relevant for a client.” Another commends his ability to “…advise on how to navigate a difficult situation to significantly minimize legal risk.”

A client likewise recommends Perkins as an attorney who is “…knowledgeable, calm and pragmatic, and provides solutions that are practical and advice that is meaningful.”

In addition, Global Investigations Review this month named Perkins to its 2021 list of top FCPA practitioners to watch.

Chambers Europe also listed the group as a leading corporate compliance and investigations practice in France for the third year in a row.

Partners Mike DeBernardis and Anne Gaustad round out the group’s accolades in the first half of 2021 with individual recognitions for their outstanding achievements. Global Investigations Review named Gaustad to its “Women in Investigations” 2021 list, praising her accomplishments in the field of investigations and white-collar law. Similarly, DeBernardis was one of five attorneys named a “Rising Star” in compliance by Law360, the publication’s annual list recognizing lawyers under 40 whose legal accomplishments transcend their age.
