Daniel McLaughlin

Daniel joined the firm in 2007 and was made partner in January 2025. Based in the Paris office, Daniel represents large multinational clients on a range of issues, including the design and implementation of anti-corruption compliance programs, conducting internal investigations, and undertaking third-party due diligence reviews. He has been recognized by Global Investigations Review for his work in connection with the firm’s representation of Airbus.

Eleanor Erney

Counsel Arbitration

Eleanor joined the firm in 2015 and was promoted to counsel in January 2025. Based in the Washington, DC, office, Eleanor has significant experience in both investment treaty arbitrations and international commercial arbitrations under the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, the International Chamber of Commerce, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and the London Court of International Arbitration rules. She has represented both investors and sovereign states in arbitration proceedings and has served as tribunal secretary.

Sean Murphy

Sean joined the firm 2018 and was promoted to counsel in January 2025. Based in the New York office, Sean’s practice focuses on commercial aircraft finance. He has advised major aviation corporations, borrowers, lenders and airlines in several acquisition, credit facility, leasing and debt security transactions.

Mathieu joined the firm in 2011 and was promoted to counsel in January 2025. Based in the Paris office, Mathieu advises clients in matters related to internal investigations, corporate governance, compliance audits, as well as anti-corruption enforcement and compliance, including the specific requirements of France’s Sapin II Law.

Walter joined the firm in 2015 and was promoted to counsel in January 2025. Based in the Washington, DC, office, Walter represents operating lessors, borrowers, lenders, initial purchasers, arrangers, export credit agencies, private equity investors and airlines with financing transactions in the U.S. and around the globe. His practice focuses on commercial aircraft finance.

Justin Cohen

Counsel  Tax and Employee Benefits

Justin joined the firm in 2014 and was promoted to counsel in January 2024. Justin’s practice focuses on the tax aspects of domestic and international mergers, acquisitions and spin-offs, aviation and equipment finance transactions, corporate finances, securities offerings and bankruptcy and financial restructurings. He also has experience working on the tax aspects of cross-border investment structuring, private equity and hedge fund formation.

Gregory Farrell

Counsel Litigation

Gregory joined the firm in 2008 and was promoted to counsel in January 2024. Gregory’s practice focuses on complex commercial and bankruptcy litigation. His past representations include Republic Airways Holdings Inc. and certain of its subsidiaries in their Chapter 11 reorganization proceeding, as well as the trustee in the Securities Investor Protection Act liquidations of Lehman Brothers Inc. and MF Global Inc., two of the largest bankruptcies in U.S. history.

Anna Hamati

Counsel ● Sanctions, Export Controls & Anti-money Laundering ● International Trade

Anna joined the firm in 2022 and was promoted to counsel in January 2024. Anna assists clients with matters related to export controls and economic trade sanctions. Prior to joining Hughes Hubbard & Reed, Anna was a Senior Sanctions Policy Advisor at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in the Office of Foreign Assets Control. She was also an Assistant Vice President at Citibank in both the Global Sanctions Compliance and the Anti-Money Laundering units.
