Sept. 26, 2025 – Hughes Hubbard was once again recognized in Law360's Pro Bono and Social Impact Leaders rankings. This is the fourth year in a row that the firm placed in the top five for pro bono work among firms of similar size.

Some of the firm’s 2024 pro bono victories recognized in the ranking include winning asylum for a family of eight who fled Afghanistan to escape death threats from members of ISIS and the Taliban, and winning asylum for a Cameroonian refugee who fled her home country in 2019 after she was falsely accused of being a separatist and imprisoned.

Recent 2025 pro bono successes include successfully defending a Salvadoran man facing a decade-old deportation order in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and working with The Legal Aid Society to win a major settlement in a pro bono rental subsidy class action litigation against New York City.

“Hughes Hubbard is extremely proud of our commitment to pro bono work,” said Neil Oxford, chair. “Public service is at the root of our firm’s culture, reminding our lawyers that the most vulnerable among us urgently need access to counsel and vigorous advocacy. We look forward to continuing this commitment to advocating for those that would not otherwise have access to justice.”
