Jan. 20, 2026  Law360 has named Hughes Hubbard’s International Arbitration practice a winner in its Practice Group of the Year awards for 2025.

Led by practice Chair Gaela Gehring Flores, the group was recognized for its major achievements on behalf of clients, including successfully representing the Republic of Panama in a $2 billion international commercial arbitration, securing a significant early procedural victory on behalf of the Republic of Colombia against claimant Continental Gold, in an ICSID arbitration involving one of the world’s largest ultra high-grade gold mines, and achieving a rare outcome in favor of the Republic of Equatorial Guinea, with Malik Havalic convincing the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit to vacate the lower court’s enforcement of an arbitration award.

Hughes Hubbard’s International Arbitration team also leads in its representation of clients in high-stakes international commercial and investment arbitrations and related judicial proceedings through partners Sébastien Bonnard, head of the firm’s Europe, Africa and the Middle East International Arbitration practice as well as Managing Partner of the Paris office, Diego Durán de la Vega, Co-Chair of the Latin American Disputes practice group, and Alexander Marcopoulos.

The team advises clients around the world from our offices in the U.S., including in New York, Washington, D.C., Los Angeles and Miami, as well as from Tokyo, Rio De Janeiro (In cooperation with Saud Advogados) and Paris.

In 2025, the team managed tens of billions of dollars in disputes across numerous arbitral venues involving dozens of countries – an extraordinary testament to the scale and significance of their work.
