New York, Paris and Washington, DC, Jan. 6, 2025 – Hughes Hubbard is pleased to announce that, effective Jan. 1, Daniel McLaughlin was elevated to partner and Eleanor Erney, Sean Murphy, Mathieu Rossignol and Walter Song were promoted to counsel.

Hughes Hubbard’s promotions reflect the firm’s growth strategy across its New York, Paris and Washington, DC, offices and its Global Investigations, Enforcement and Compliance practice group; International Arbitration practice group; and Corporate department.

Daniel McLaughlin, partner, joined the firm’s Global Investigations, Enforcement and Compliance practice group in 2007. Based in the Paris office, Daniel represents large multinational clients on a range of issues, including the design and implementation of anti-corruption compliance programs, conducting internal investigations, and undertaking third-party due diligence reviews. He has been recognized by Global Investigations Review for his work in connection with the firm’s representation of Airbus.

Daniel received his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center with a certificate in refugees and humanitarian emergencies, his master’s degree from Carnegie Mellon University, and his bachelor’s degree from West Virginia Wesleyan College, magna cum laude.

Eleanor Erney, counsel, joined the firm’s Arbitration practice group in 2015. Based in the Washington, DC, office, Eleanor has significant experience in both investment treaty arbitrations and international commercial arbitrations under the International Centre for Settlement of Investment Disputes, the International Chamber of Commerce, the United Nations Commission on International Trade Law, the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and the London Court of International Arbitration rules. She has represented both investors and sovereign states in arbitration proceedings and has served as tribunal secretary.

Eleanor received her J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and her bachelor’s from Carnegie Mellon University, with honors.

Sean Murphy, counsel, joined the firm’s Corporate and Finance practice group in 2018. Based in the New York office, Sean’s practice focuses on commercial aircraft finance. He has advised major aviation corporations, borrowers, lenders and airlines in several acquisition, credit facility, leasing and debt security transactions.

Sean received his J.D. from Columbia University School of Law and his bachelor’s from Georgetown University.

Mathieu Rossignol, counsel, joined the firm’s Global Investigations, Enforcement and Compliance practice group in 2011. Based in the Paris office, Mathieu advises clients in matters related to internal investigations, corporate governance, compliance audits, as well as anti-corruption enforcement and compliance, including the specific requirements of France’s Sapin II Law.

Mathieu received his master’s degree in international economic law from Université de Paris I - Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Walter Song, counsel, joined the firm’s Corporate and Equipment Finance practice group in 2015. Based in the Washington, DC, office, Walter represents operating lessors, borrowers, lenders, initial purchasers, arrangers, export credit agencies, private equity investors and airlines with financing transactions in the U.S. and around the globe. His practice focuses on commercial aircraft finance.

Walter received his J.D. from George Mason University School of Law with a concentration in patent law and his bachelor’s from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
