William Stein has been recognized by DC Appleseed Center for Law & Justice as a lifetime achievement honoree.

Over the years, Stein has been involved in several of DC Appleseed’s projects, including improving voter representation in Washington, D.C.’s elections, clean up of the Anacostia River, addressing gun violence and gun safety in D.C., and D.C. democracy and autonomy.

Hughes Hubbard is a longtime supporter of DC Appleseed, with Stein serving for many years as a board member and currently serving as the board’s vice chair, providing assistance not only with governance matters but also with outreach, advocacy and organizational support.

DC Appleseed is a nonprofit dedicated to using policy advocacy and litigation to solve problems affecting the daily lives of those in the District of Columbia. For over 25 years, it has taken on some of the District’s toughest problems, including environmental concerns, education equality and economic opportunity.

Stein is the chair of the firm’s appellate practice group and has over 40 years of experience in complex financial, commercial and regulatory litigation and investigations, and organizational governance and risk management.
