Sept. 18, 2025 - Hughes Hubbard finalized another settlement on behalf of the Customs and Tax Administration of the Kingdom of Denmark, or Skatteforvaltningen (SKAT), with a U.S. defendant who was among those accused of participating in a $2.1 billion tax fraud scheme related to fraudulently claiming refunds on tax withheld from stock dividends.

On Sept. 11, after finalizing a settlement with defendant Bradley Crescenzo, the firm, on behalf of SKAT, asked the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York to dismiss the claims against Crescenzo and his associate plans. SKAT also agreed to a settlement and asked the court to dismiss allegations against four pension plans associated with Roger Lehman, who was an authorized representative on Crescenzo’s plans.

The settlements follow a settlement with another U.S. defendant in February, just weeks after the firm secured a sweeping victory on behalf of SKAT in a bellwether jury trial.

Law360 reported on the settlement.

Marc Weinstein, Bill Maguire, Neil Oxford and Dustin Smith lead the Hughes Hubbard team representing SKAT, with key assistance from John McGoey, Greg Farrell, Carolyn Harbus, Scott Sanders, Jessica Lagnado, Debbie Placid, Elizabeth Zhou, James Henseler, Erin Pamukcu, Kiran Rosenkilde and Richard Bosch.
