Hughes Hubbard Wins Multiple Honors at 2018 Americas IP Awards

March 16, 2018 — Hughes Hubbard received multiple honors at Managing IP’s 2018 Americas IP Awards ceremony, held March 15 in New York City.

The magazine named HHR U.S. Appellate Firm of the Year. In addition, Jim Dabney, co-chair of the firm’s Intellectual Property practice area, was named Outstanding Appellate Practitioner and Outstanding Litigator: New York category.

Dabney led the HHR team that won a landmark Supreme Court victory last May on behalf of sweetener manufacturer TC Heartland. The unanimous ruling rejected the nation’s patent court’s statutory interpretation that had led to rampant forum-shopping in patent infringement cases.

The Americas IP awards recognize outstanding achievements of intellectual property firms and individuals in the U.S. and Canada over the past 12 months. The nominees were chosen by Managing IP’s team of research analysts, with guidance from its editorial team. The results are based on information from the publication’s research for the 2018 edition of IP Stars.
