Hughes Hubbard Promotes Shayda Vance to Counsel
Hughes Hubbard is pleased to announce that Shayda Vance has been promoted to Counsel.
Based in Washington. D.C., Vance is a member of the firm’s Global Investigations, Enforcement and Compliance group, assisting clients with internal investigations related to anti-bribery and corruption and other ethics violations and representing clients in connection with inquires by the Department of Justice, Securities Exchange Commission, and other relevant government agencies, as well as representing government contractors in connection with claims under the False Claims Act.
She is also a member of the International Arbitration group, representing both investors and sovereigns in investor-state disputes and parties in commercial arbitration disputes, as well as in arbitral award enforcement actions before federal courts in the U.S.

In her pro bono practice, Vance has developed an expertise in international human rights law, regularly advising on cases before the Inter-American human rights system, earning her frequent recognition on the Capital Pro Bono High Honor Roll. She is also a member of the American Society of International Law, ArbitralWomen, and the Women’s White Collar Defense Association.
Prior to joining Hughes Hubbard, Vance clerked for the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals, and the South African Constitutional Court in Johannesburg.
Vance received her J.D. from Columbia Law School, where she was a Harlan Fiske Stone Scholar, and her bachelor’s degree, cum laude, from Harvard University.
