May 24, 2022-  HHR won both the "Airline Unsecured Bond Deal of the Year" and "Overall Capital Markets Deal of the Year" for the 2021 Airfinance Journal Awards.

The winning transaction for both categories was the $1.2 billion bond issuance  for Hawaiian Airlines that closed in February 2021. Hawaiian applied the proceeds from the bonds, which were issued by two special purpose acquisition companies, to fully repay federal loans Hawaiian received under the Coronavirus Aid Relief and Economic Security Act and to further enhance its liquidity position.

Steve Chung led the HHR team that worked on the deal. The team also included Andrew Fowler, Alan Kravitz, Cynthia Liu, Thomas Haley, Walter Song, David Cohen and alum Doron Magen.

The Firm has won recognition in each of the previous nine years for its role in 15 other transactions named “Deal of the Year."

Airfinance’s awards are valued for their independence and transparency and represent the market-leading deals rated on innovation, timing, size, complexity and the ability to overcome obstacles and set new industry benchmarks.
