April 2025 – The firm was once again named to the GAR 100, Global Arbitration Review’s (GAR) annual ranking of the world’s leading international arbitration practices.

In the 18th edition of its guide, the publication lauded the firm’s recent work, including defending Panama in a $20 billion International Chamber of Commerce claim, representing Ukraine’s electricity company Ukrenergo in a €527 million investment treaty claim against Russia over its Crimean assets and securing the enforcement of a $140 million investment treaty award won by Deutsche Telekom against India.

A former Paraguayan official told GAR that Hughes Hubbard has provided the state with “outstanding services” for many years. Another source praised the Washington, DC, team as a “trailblazer,” saying it has “truly one of the best arbitration practices in the world” and provides an “efficient and flawless service.”

GAR highlighted some of the firm’s celebrated arbitrators, including Sébastien Bonnard, Jim Boykin, Diego Durán de la Vega, Gaela Gehring Flores, Remy Gerbay, Christine Kang, Alexander Marcopoulos, Nicolas Swerdloff and John Townsend.
