Hubbard & Reed Advises the Government of Côte d’Ivoire on the Amendment to the Concession Agreement for the Combined cycle Power Plant in Songon

Sena Agbayissah (Partner), Rhidian David (Counsel) and Agnès Braka-Calas (Counsel) advised the Ivorian government on the amendment to the concession agreement for the design, financing, construction and operation of a new 372 MW combined cycle power plant in Songon.

This new plant will increase the total production capacity of Côte d'Ivoire to meet the growing demand for electricity and enable it to continue exporting its electricity not only to its neighbors (Burkina Faso, Ghana, Liberia and Mali) but also to Togo.

This IPP project is being led by the company Songon Energies.

The project is part of the long-standing association between the Paris office of Hughes Hubbard & Reed and the Ivorian government on various large-scale power plant construction projects, and in particular the Azito and Atinkou plants.  “The diversification and increase in electricity production are key issues for the economic development of Côte d'Ivoire and West Africa, which are facing strong growth in demand. We are delighted to be able to support the Ivorian government with implementing and securing these strategic projects,” Sena Agbayissah stated.
